Date #1

Key Takeaways: Bits are the key to a quirky girl's heart <3

Vitals:

Name: Thespis, because this man is a proud theatre king (and minored in it in college, too!)

Length of date: 3 hours

How the date was obtained: Hinge

Where: Calabasas Commons

Well, this marks my first ever date using a dating app. I did not die, and I actually had a wonderful time! Maybe the world isn't so scary after all. Thespis and I met on Hinge. He called himself a clown on his profile, I said that I loved clowns, he responded: "Normal, goofy clowns or killer, crazy clowns?" His attention to detail immediately drew me in. We met up at the Calabasas Commons Starbucks on a fine Saturday afternoon. I was already quite nervous about going on a date, but pair that with my innate awkwardness, and we're in for a treat! I think our first interaction was when I opened the door with a hand flourish and a bowed head (essentially a position that says, "my liege"). What can I say, I panicked. But he went with it... good sign. We got our fun drinks and started to tour the Commons. I was having a fun time, but I didn't feel totally comfortable UNTIL I made a joke that referenced a previous joke and he said, "Ooh, callback!" At that moment, my heart made the "ahooga" noise and I was all in!! What could have easily just been a quick coffee date turned into a 3-hour bit adventure through the Commons, including but not limited to: delightful people-watching ("Okay, now find a stranger who would convince you to join their gym..."), kids sunglasses (he bought Buzz Lightyear ones for him and Princess ones for me), and Jeni's Ice Cream (this king had Lactaid pills AT THE READY). I really didn't want the afternoon to end, but I had an improv show later that evening so eventually we parted ways with a hug and a phone number exchange. I was honestly surprised at how well the date went and how much we "vibed" with each other! Guess I struck gold at the first dig, whatever that means.

Overall Experience:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The future for us… I definitely am interested in seeing King Thespis again :)

Next Week: Nothing set in stone yet, but hoping to hang out with Thespis again! Maybe a bowling date. We shall see!
