February Dates #4

Taylor's Date #4

Key Takeaways: It's worth giving it one more shot!

Vitals:

Name: Tony (round 2!!)

Length of date: 2 hours

How the date was obtained: Hinge

Where: Coffee shop

Last week's date with Tony went okay, but it wasn't "AMAZING.” He had so many great attributes and hobbies, but it was just a bit awkward. But that's okay! It was a first date! I couldn't tell if he was tired because he had only gotten 5 hours of sleep the night prior, or if he was nervous, or if he just wasn't into it. But he texted me the next day saying he had fun and that he would love to hang out again, and I was excited to see that message pop up. We made plans to go skiing, and I was looking forward to see him in that environment. However, due to his weird schedule working at a ski shop, he ended up not leaving work until midnight the night before our date. So, the morning of, he texted me that he was pretty tired, but if I really wanted to go he would muster up the strength. I was excited to go skiing, but wasn't going to force him to hit the slopes if he was super tired. So, we decided to just go grab coffee again instead! I had him pick me up, which he was happy to do, because I still had yet to scrape my car off after the big snow storm we had the day prior. Classic move on my part. On the ride there, we were passing my old college, and he asked if I could give him a mini tour and pass by the house I used to live in. It was really cute to see his interest in seeing my old stomping grounds! We then drove to the coffee shop, which was down an alley, and he proceeded to ask, "Are you sure I can turn down this street?" "Yes, it's right down this alley!" "Are you going to beat me up and steal my car?". He caught on to my plan :/ We then got into the restaurant, and pulled out our phones to scan the QR code (all the restaurants are doing that now to be ~covid friendly~). My menu pulled up right away, but his scanner was not working for some reason. I grabbed his phone and tried and it, and still nothing. I air-dropped him the link to the menu, and when it popped up on his phone, it only let him open it up in Apple Books. For some reason I thought this was the funniest thing, and could NOT stop laughing. But glad that he could get the menu one way or another. We ordered our coffees, and got to chatting! We talked about traveling, and he told me all about his trip to Italy two summers back, along with pictures and videos from the trip. He told me some pretty funny stories that had me laughing out loud. I have never been overseas, and Italy is top of my list, and so it was really fun listening to his stories! I told him about trips I had taken to New York (his home), and that the main reason my family and I go is to see Broadway shows. He then proceeded to tell me that he had NEVER SEEN A BROADWAY SHOW??!!? I was dumbfounded. Not okay. BUT- I will let it slide. I had such a fun time with him, and it felt much more natural this time. I am really glad he reached out for a second date, and I really really hope he asks for a third. I am trying to not get my hopes up, but there is definitely a ~crush~ forming!

Overall Experience:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The future for us… Hopefully a third date! I think we are a really good match, and I would love to see what the future has in store for us.

Next Week: See above.

Markell's Date #4

Key Takeaways: Ironically, some people just don’t use their phones.

Vitals:

Name: Alita! Because it’s a badass modern name, and she also had a badass modern name!

Length of date: 1.5 hours

How the date was obtained: Tinder

Where: Lunch at Spice Room Denver, CO

When I swiped on Alita, I knew she’d be a really cool girl! Fun and sass radiated from all her photos. She was one of those people I thought I’d never be able to match with, so I felt lucky she swiped right on me too. I started talking to her prior to moving to Colorado and it was a marvel that we were still talking. Everyone else I talked to prior to moving faded from existence. I have to admit I was a little bit nervous at the prospect of going out with her, but I was up for the challenge! This is the type of girl I was always secretly attracted to, a little more alternative (tattoos & piercings, probably an affinity for more alternative music, which in Colorado tends to be EDM or Trap). We hit up a local Indian restaurant near where Alita lived. I knew our conversation was going to be a breeze because, as she exclaimed, “I will say anything and everything on my mind without a second thought.” I think people like this are refreshing because they often aren’t afraid to be themselves, and tend to bring that out in others. Our conversation was pretty great. She made me feel comfortable enough to talk about things I’d never talked about at a lunch table. She explained how her parents were hippies and let her do whatever she wanted as long as she had good grades. We talked about our dating experiences, and she gave me the down-low on Denver, which definitely illuminated some of my prior experiences. She’s a party person and has put things in her system I’d never dream of. All in all, it was a great time, and I’m glad I was finally able to go out with her.

Overall Experience:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The future for us… She definitely doesn’t want to be in anything resembling a relationship any time soon, but she’s a super fun human being!

Next Week: No repeat dates unfortunately. Haven’t really clicked with anyone that way yet. There are a few pending in the next week between Tinder and Hinge, but I’ll probably need a break after this is over.
